ASSP Colonial Virginia Chapter Meeting Luck Stone Safety Presentation & Barge Operations Tour

The ASSP Colonial Virginia Chapter is excited to return to Luck Stone for a safety presentation, lunch, networking, and a unique opportunity to tour the South Richmond facility and see its barge operations along the James River. Luck Stone facilities have been among our chapter’s most popular meeting locations in recent years, and this should be another excellent event.
The Luck Stone leadership team will provide a safety presentation highlighting the company’s operations and its commitment to building and maintaining a strong safety culture. Attendees will learn about Luck Stone’s values-based approach to safety, what that culture means to the organization, and how those values are put into practice every day.
As an added feature, this meeting will include a plant tour with access to the barge operations area. This is something we have not previously offered at a chapter meeting and will provide attendees with a firsthand look at a unique industrial and marine operation along the James River. The tour will also demonstrate why safety is such an important priority at this facility.
Personal Protective Equipment
Because we will be touring active plant and barge areas, PPE is required. Attendees will need a hard hat, safety glasses, reflective safety vest, and steel-toe or composite-toe safety shoes. A limited number of hard hats and safety glasses will be available for those who need them.
Lunch will be provided, and there will be time to network with fellow ASSP Colonial Virginia Chapter members. Longtime Chapter member Heyda Vass of Luck Stone will serve as our host.

Join the ASSP Colonial Virginia Chapter and Richmond’s family-owned Red Wing Shoes for an educational seminar on the importance of quality occupational footwear and its role in improving workplace safety, comfort, and productivity. With more than 120 years of footwear expertise, Red Wing will explain how proper boot selection, fit, support, and maintenance can help reduce slips, trips, falls, and foot-related injuries while improving employee well-being.
This is an educational seminar—not a sales presentation. Attendees will learn about footwear ergonomics, ASTM/CSA/EN performance standards, monthly boot maintenance, and how to develop or strengthen a corporate Occupational Footwear Safety Program.
The Red Wing Mobile Boot Truck will also be onsite, allowing attendees to explore a variety of work boot styles and safety footwear solutions. Anyone arriving in Red Wing boots will receive a complimentary pair of Red Wing leather boot laces.
