First Outing Since COVID-19, at Richmond Flying Squirrels

Colonial Virginia ASSP Outing at the Diamond

Play Ball!! Squirrels Win!!

The Colonial Virginia ASSP Chapter had their annual mixer and

Recognition outing to the Diamond to see the Richmond Flying Squirrels

play the Altoona Curve and it was a success all around. First, we overcame a brief rainstorm. Then we met in the Food Lion Party Tent along the Right Field side and had a nice meal. Then Chapter President Avery Carter gave a presentation to our own Jack Sullivan as he won the Safety Professional of the Year for all of Region 6!!!!!

Then Guy Butts from Draper Aden gave a nice presentation on heat safety complete with sunscreen, water with electrolytes and OSHA handouts on heat

safety. It could not have come at a better time as the heat index has been approaching a 100 in recent days.

Everybody had fun and we all got a shirt from the Squirrels as they were celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in the summer. The weather got very nice.

And the game was a nail biter. The Squirrels were up 5-2 in the ninth and the Curve got a run and had the bases loaded with only one out. The Squirrels brought in a closer throwing nearly 100 miles an hour and he struck out the last 2 batters. The Squirrels win and everyone in attendance had a winning day.
